1) Now imagine you are a practicing global social worker in a community organization advocating peacefully and legally for human rights, such as the ones Grodofsky describes. You can be in any country of the world, including U.S., but understand his tactics are designed for contexts in which government is led by people who are corrupt and cruel. Describe how you would empower people to create a laughtivism campaign to voice their concerns.

Imagine that you are invited to speak to some international policy-makers who are having a debate about the problem of global poverty. The central question is: Can global poverty be remediated? There will be a debate, one side arguing 'yes,' the other side arguing 'no.'  You are asked to argue "yes." So outline your argument, using examples from our readings and others if you like about what can be done to remedy global poverty, and of course, focus on what social workers could do if we had the resources...

Consider the goals of your services as well as the kinds of services you would create, using examples from global social work.
2) What kinds of processes would you set up to ensure both your effectiveness and respect for the inhabitants' culture? Use examples from Half the Sky, Vieques and others where change was accomplished by supporting positive community values...

2017 Midterm Question #3

I         Imagine that you are writing a policy memo to President Donald Trump in U.S., the Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskyte, or President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni about the kinds of policies and programs that they should support in order to reduce global terrorism. What would be the main points you would make (drawing from our readings)? Include a child development point of view, considering our readings on child development.
